Erosion, sediment and stormwater
Work is planned to limit disturbed ground, protect drains and waterways, manage site access and prevent sediment-laden water leaving the work area.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Environmental planning is part of how Huckel Excavations approaches civil works and earthworks—from the first site assessment through delivery and project closeout.
01 / OUR APPROACH
Every site has different environmental risks, approvals and surroundings.
Before relevant work begins, the project requirements are reviewed to identify sensitive areas, legal and client obligations, suitable controls, inspection needs and emergency arrangements.
Project-specific controls reflect the scope of work, site conditions, applicable approvals, development consent conditions, council requirements and principal contractor arrangements.
02 / OPERATIONAL CONTROLS
Controls are selected for each project and checked as work, weather and site conditions change.
Work is planned to limit disturbed ground, protect drains and waterways, manage site access and prevent sediment-laden water leaving the work area.
Work methods, timing, plant operation and dust suppression are considered around weather, site boundaries and nearby homes, businesses and other sensitive receivers.
Storage, refuelling and servicing are planned to protect drains and waterways. Suitable spill equipment is kept available and leaks or releases are reported and controlled promptly.
Materials are assessed before reuse, transport or disposal. Required classifications, transport records and facility dockets are retained for relevant off-site movements.
Approved work boundaries and exclusion areas are respected, with controls for vegetation, fauna, weeds and soil-borne risks applied where the project requires them.
Suspected Aboriginal objects, human remains, relics or heritage items trigger immediate stop-work, protection of the area and escalation for specialist advice and required notification.
03 / THROUGH THE PROJECT
Review the site, scope, approvals, sensitive receivers, materials, weather exposure and environmental risks before mobilisation.
Put practical protections, exclusion areas, waste arrangements, emergency resources and communication requirements in place.
Check the work area and controls at the frequency required by the project, including after rain, incidents and material changes.
Record issues, investigate incidents, close corrective actions and carry lessons into future work.
04 / ACCOUNTABILITY
Environmental responsibility belongs to everyone working under Huckel Excavations’ operational control.
Work can be stopped or suspended where an immediate or uncontrolled risk of pollution, environmental harm or damage to a protected area is identified.
Environmental incidents and complaints are reported, controlled, assessed and escalated so required notifications and corrective actions can be completed.
Relevant inspections, material movements, incidents, complaints and actions are documented to support compliance and continual improvement.
This page summarises Huckel Excavations’ environmental management approach. Project-specific approvals, licences, consents and contractual requirements apply to individual sites.
